Official: Italy international Scalvini extends Atalanta contract

Atalanta confirm Giorgio Scalvini’s contract extension: ‘A bond forged in childhood and now strengthened even further.’

Italy international Scalvini has signed a new contract with his club Atalanta.

“A bond forged in childhood and now strengthened even further: Giorgio Scalvini has extended his contract with Atalanta BC,” the club said on Sunday morning.

La Dea did not announce when Scalvini’s new contract will end, but Italian sources say it’s a new three-year deal that extends the defender’s stay from 2028 to 2031.

“A love story that began in the summer of 2015 and has continued to unfold over the years, step by step, milestone after milestone, all the way to the summit of Europe on that magical night in Dublin,” Atalanta continued.

“A true ‘son of Zingonia,’ he grew up on the pitches of the Centro Bortolotti and developed both as a player and as a person, fully embodying the values instilled at Atalanta from an early age.

“Exemplary in his conduct, both on and off the pitch, he has always honoured the Nerazzurri shirt, which, at just 22 years of age, he has already worn 144 times at professional level.

“The Percassi family, the Pagliuca family, the sporting management and the entire Club wish Giorgio every success, both personally and with the team, as he continues his journey in Nerazzurri colours.”

Scalvini is currently on international duty with the Italy national team. He was introduced from the bench during Friday’s 2-0 loss to Belgium, but is expected to start against Turkey on Monday.
