NHL Tonight: Oilers-Devils highlights Tuesday's 11-game schedule

  • ESPN staffNov 2, 2026, 07:00 AM ET

It's Election Day in the U.S. on Tuesday, and while the results roll in across the country there are 11 NHL games taking place.

We mention this a lot, but this is most definitely a strong night to make use of the multi-cast option, with opening puck drop at 7 p.m. ET for eight of the 11 games.

Read on for a look at what you need to know for each game, including betting info and broadcast details.

Odds are provided by DraftKings and subject to change.

Utah Mammoth at Toronto Maple Leafs

7 p.m. ET (ESPN+) | UTA -130, O/U: 6.5

This game will be the conclusion of the season series between the Mammoth and Maple Leafs, after Utah won the first matchup 5-4 on Oct. 13.

In that game, the Mammoth scored first and built a 5-2 lead after two periods. Toronto got two back -- off the sticks of John Tavares and Gavin McKenna -- but couldn't find the equalizer.

Tavares and Kirill Marchenko are among the Leafs who will miss this contest. But they will have Auston Matthews (11 goals, 13 assists) and William Nylander (10 goals, 11 assists), both of whom are in the top 10 in league scoring. The Mammoth are led in scoring by Clayton Keller (four goals, 14 assists), Logan Cooley (eight goals, nine assists) and Mikhail Sergachev (five goals, 12 assists).

Winnipeg Jets at Montreal Canadiens

7 p.m. ET (ESPN+) | MTL -175, O/U: 5.5

Similar to the Leafs and Mammoth, this is also the second of two matchups this season for the Jets and Canadiens. The first of which was the Heritage Classic on Oct. 25, won 2-1 by the Habs.

Things haven't been going so well for Winnipeg of late, as the Jets bring a nine-game losing streak into this contest. The Canadiens are streaking in the opposite direction, winners of five straight and six of their last seven.

Of particular note on the individual front for this game is Montreal's Jacob Fowler, who was named the NHL's Rookie of the Month for October. He finished the month with a 7-1-0 record, 1.84 goals-against average and .932 save percentage.

Detroit Red Wings at Tampa Bay Lightning

7 p.m. ET (ESPN+) | TB -278, O/U: 6.5

The Atlantic Division is shaping up to be one of the best playoff races in the NHL this season, and just one point separates the fourth-place Lightning from the eighth-place Red Wings heading into this showdown. This is the first of four times the teams will play in 2026-27.

Nikita Kucherov -- who has requested a trade -- leads Tampa in scoring with four goals and 14 assists, while the Wings are led by Alex DeBrincat (seven goals, nine assists), who signed a long-term contract extension this season.

One area to monitor in this one is special teams, particularly when Detroit is on the power play. The Red Wings are tied for 11th, converting 23.59% of their chances, while the Lightning are 18th on the PK.

St. Louis Blues at New York Rangers

7 p.m. ET (ESPN+) | NYR -125, O/U: 5.5

The Blues and Rangers are poised for their first matchup of the season, with both teams in fifth place in their respective divisions -- though they arrived there by quite different means.

The Rangers won six of their first eight games this season by an aggregate score of 27-14; since then, they've gone 1-5-1, being outscored 32-18. The Blues won opening night, went on a three-game losing streak, then have alternated two-game winning streaks with two-game losing streaks since.

Fans of rising young stars will want to keep a close eye on St. Louis' Jimmy Snuggerud and New York's Alexis Lafreniere, who lead their teams in goals.

Minnesota Wild at Philadelphia Flyers

7 p.m. ET (ESPN+) | MIN -170, O/U: 5.5

The Central Division-leading Wild head to Philly riding a four-game road winning streak. The Flyers played ungracious host to the Mammoth on Sunday, defeating their guests 6-3.

Wild winger Kirill Kaprizov is off to a superb start with 15 goals through 16 games; that's a 79-goal pace. Philly's Matvei Michkov leads his team with 10 goals in 16 games, which is a 53-goal pace.

Minnesota has a sizable advantage in goal. Jesper Wallstedt has gone 9-2-3 this season, with a 2.06 goals-against average and .920 save percentage, while Philly's Dan Vladar and Joseph Woll have combined for a 4-8-4 record, 3.31 GAA and .892 SV%.

Vegas Golden Knights at Pittsburgh Penguins

7 p.m. ET (ESPN+) | VGK -112, O/U: 6.5

After the Golden Knights easily dispatched the Penguins 6-2 in Vegas back on Oct. 17, Sidney Crosby & Co. are hoping for some vengeance in the Steel City on Tuesday.

In the previous game, the Knights built a 3-0 lead after the first period, and the Pens could get no closer than the three-goal deficit thereafter.

Jack Eichel (seven goals, 13 assists) is Vegas' leading scorer, while Erik Karlsson (three goals, 13 assists) leads the way for Pittsburgh.

Dallas Stars at Washington Capitals

7 p.m. ET (ESPN+) | WSH -112, O/U: 5.5

Going back to the Stars' history as the Minnesota North Stars, the franchise has a 60-31-20 record against the Capitals, and that includes wins in both games the clubs played in 2025-26.

Dallas has had mixed results against Washington's Metro Division colleagues this season, defeating the Blue Jackets and Islanders but losing to the Penguins and Devils. The Caps are 1-1-0 against the Central Division, defeating the Preds but losing 5-1 on Sunday to the Wild.

The Stars have benefited greatly from a stellar start by goaltender Jake Oettinger (1.63 GAA, .921 SV%), while the Caps' Logan Thompson has not put up his best numbers to this point (2.93 GAA, .898 SV%).

Colorado Avalanche at Columbus Blue Jackets

7 p.m. ET (ESPN+) | COL -130, O/U: 6.5

After some bumps in the road early on, can the Avalanche find some consistency? Nathan MacKinnon is doing his best to drag them ahead; he enters this game on a five-game point streak (with nine points in that span).

The Blue Jackets are in last place in the Metro, but it's a little misleading since they've played only 12 games (compared to upwards of 16 for some divisional foes). Kent Johnson is the goal- and point-scoring leader, and has already equaled his 2025-26 output in the former metric in just 12 games.

This game will also be the first one in which Columbus winger Valeri Nichushkin will face off against his former Avalanche teammates after he was dealt to Columbus this summer.

Edmonton Oilers at New Jersey Devils

7:30 p.m. ET (ESPN+/Disney+/Hulu) | NJ -155, O/U: 6.5

We'll defer to Greg Wyshynski to explain why you need to tune in for this one, as it was one of his "must-see games of the week" in the most recent Wysh List column:

"It's the Connor vs. Connor matchup we all want to see. McDavid threatening NHL scoring records. Hellebuyck likely making his first home start in New Jersey as a member of the Devils."

McDavid now has nine goals and 30 assists through 15 games. For a full 84-game season, that paces out to 50 goals and 168 assists, or 218 points, which would break Wayne Gretzky's single-season record by three.

Meanwhile, Hellebuyck has won both of his starts for the Devils thus far -- over a pair of 2026 playoff teams, no less -- with a 1.50 GAA and .923 SV%.

Carolina Hurricanes at Nashville Predators

8 p.m. ET (ESPN+) | CAR -185, O/U: 6.5

As with any interconference matchup, it's worth briefly pondering how a Stanley Cup Final between these two teams would look. Those of us in the hockey media know it would be one of the best culinary Finals in recent history, that's for sure.

But back to the ice, and the Canes have continued to roll over most of their competition this season, including putting up a touchdown on the Jets on Sunday. The Preds' most recent outing was a 5-4 shootout thriller over Steven Stamkos' former Tampa teammates. Does the magic continue against on Tuesday?

Part of the solution will be finding a way to slow down Sebastian Aho, who is tied for seventh in the league in scoring with 21 points (nine goals, 12 assists) through 16 games.

Anaheim Ducks at Vancouver Canucks

9 p.m. ET (ESPN) | ANA -148, O/U: 6.5

The Canucks have just three wins through 16 games this season -- but one of them was an overtime W against the Ducks on Oct. 27.

The Ducks built a 5-2 third-period lead in that one, before allowing three straight in the final 10 minutes of the period, followed by the Filip Hronek clincher in OT.

Can Anaheim outscore its defensive shortcomings this time, or will it be another close contest?

One of the greatest coaches in NHL history, Al Arbour got a final moment behind the bench to hit a round milestone for his New York Islanders career on this day in 2007.

That night, Arbour returned to coach the Isles for game No. 1,500 of his career with the team, and his charges came from behind to win 3-2 over the Penguins.

Arbour had previously coached the Isles from 1973-1986 (including four Stanley Cups) as well as 1988-94.
