The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake is painfully close to launch. November 5, 2026, is mere weeks away and fans of the greatest adventure game of all time are itching for some sneaky peaks before the game's release. Will it be faithful to the original with just a visual overhaul, or can we expect new content? Well, only time will tell as Nintendo are keeping fairly tight-lipped. What we have just learned, though, is how awesome Shadow Link looks in the remake. Let's get into it!
A quick GIF reveal over on X, shows a couple of frames of the legendary foe in action. Anyone old enough to remember the late nighties will recall coming up against this absolute badass. Sure, some say the screeching ReDead are terrifying or the gruesome Dead Hand sticks in your mind after playing. But really, the biggest sweaty palms moment in the whole game is when you go toe to toe against Shadow Link, also known as Dark Link to some.
The brief clip is enough to bring back that sense of dread. From the dark foggy area, to the reflections in the water, this first encounter with Dark Link is truly terrifying. And the clip captures his deadliness in one swift movement. While targeting Dark Link, our plucky hero lunges forward with his sword only for Dark Link to backflip and land expertly on the side of the blade. A big screw you to anyone feeling like they were good at combat. It takes the Dark Souls 'git gud' motto and runs with it. Dark Link is an impressive foe not to be messed with.
The brief animation comes thanks to Genki_JPN over on X and does a lot to showcase, even in the briefest of moments, how impressive this opponent is. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake shows off his burning eyes and the wisps of dark shadows swirling around his body to give him a menacing look that couldn't be achieved on the N64. And the fans weren't shy about sharing their appreciation for the visual upgrade.
One had this to say:
the red eyes actually glowing through the fog is such a nasty detail i love it
And another said:
dark link was always the scariest part of that game and the remake finally does him justice
And some fans are more excited about The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of TIme remake than Grand Theft Auto VI:
im so happy i got this game, never played the original so its gonna be my first time playing it. lowkey more excited for this than gta 6
WIth both The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of TIme remake and Grand Theft Auto VI launching next month, it would seem that us gamers are spoiled for choice over what to play. Having played the original over a dozen times, I'm looking forward to revisiting Hyrule Field in all its modern visual glory. Grand Theft Auto VI can wait (for a little while at least). We've got a princess who needs rescuing and some cuccos who need a few smacks of the master sword. If you know, you know!
