Bulog's near-100 percent rice absorption shows commitment: BP BUMN

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The State-Owned Enterprises Regulatory Agency (BP BUMN) has expressed appreciation to state logistics agency Bulog for its performance in safeguarding national food security.

"BP BUMN appreciates the hard work of everyone at Bulog. This near-100 percent absorption achievement shows Bulog's commitment to standing by farmers," Director of Public Corporation Management at BP BUMN, M Khoerur Roziqin, said in a statement received here on Monday.

Bulog's mandate covers the entire upstream-to-downstream process to ensure the availability and stability of national food supplies throughout the year.

Bulog is considered to have successfully carried out two strategic functions at once, namely absorbing domestic farmers' harvests and distributing food to the public through both price stabilisation programmes and government food aid.

On the procurement side, Bulog has so far absorbed more than 3.9 million tons of rice equivalent, or 99 percent of its 4-million-ton target. The absorption came from 7.7 million tons of dry harvested grain (GKP) and 35,800 tons of rice.

"Every ton of grain absorbed means market and price certainty for farmers, while also strengthening the government's rice reserves," Roziqin said.

On the distribution side, Bulog has so far distributed more than 810,000 tons of rice through the Food Supply and Price Stabilization (SPHP) programme or 98 percent of its 828,000-ton target.

He said the SPHP programme plays an important role in keeping rice prices affordable for consumers.

Bulog has also completed the distribution of food assistance for the February-March 2026 period, with a 99.7 percent receipt rate. A total of 662,000 tons of rice and 133,000 liters of cooking oil have been received by food assistance recipients (PBP).

Meanwhile, distribution of food assistance for the July-September 2026 period has reached 682,000 tons or 68.44 percent of the 997,000-ton allocation.

Bulog has once again received a government mandate to distribute food assistance for the October-December 2026 period, with planned distribution of 997,000 tons of rice.

"With strong domestic rice reserves from its absorption efforts, we are confident Bulog can distribute the aid accurately, in the right amount, and on time," Roziqin said.
