News Central’s Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief, Kayode Akintemi, has been honoured with the Heroes of Tomorrow Africa Excellence in Media Award 2026.

The award was presented to Akintemi by Professor Nelson Aluya at a ceremony held in New York on Saturday, September 26, 2026, in recognition of his contributions to journalism and media leadership.

A statement shared with Society Plus noted that the recognition celebrates Akintemi’s years of service in the media industry and his contribution to professional journalism and African storytelling.

As Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief of News Central, Akintemi has been involved in shaping the organisation’s editorial direction and expanding its role within Africa’s media landscape.

Presenting the award, Aluya acknowledged Akintemi’s service and leadership in African media, highlighting his contribution to the industry over the years.

The Heroes of Tomorrow Africa Excellence in Media Award recognises individuals whose work and leadership have contributed to Africa and its representation on the global stage.
