Cillian Murphy's "impressive" and "unique" British thriller is now streaming on the BBC

Cillian Murphy's British thriller Retreat has become available to stream on the BBC. Originally released in 2011, the movie also features Jamie Bell and Thandiwe Newton alongside the Oscar-winner.
Retreat takes place on a remote island, where a couple try to recover from a personal tragedy. However, a stranger arrives and brings news of an airborne disease sweeping Europe – though they may be at the mercy of a madman.
Following its airing on BBC One last night, the movie has become available to stream on BBC iPlayer in the UK.

The film comes from director Carl Tibbetts, who co-wrote it with Janice Hallett, and was called "impressive" by one fan on IMDb.
They added that it "couldn't quite be described as a 'great' film, but certainly quite an impressive and well made one, that quite rightly has an impressive cast list to back up its neat idea".
"A captivating thriller with some unique spins," another added, sharing: "With a main cast of only three people, all three of them significant Hollywood names, and a simple script and setting Retreat will get under your skin in all the right ways and downright thrill you."
"I liked the pace and the atmosphere of the film, and I would recommend it to everyone interested in this genre," a third wrote. "Retreat definitely deserves better critics and a better rating!"

Over on Rotten Tomatoes, Retreat holds a score of 62% fresh based on 13 reviews, We Got This Covered saying it "offers up some truly thrilling moments".
However, CineVue was less impressed, arguing the movie is "ultimately scuppered by a weak, unimaginative script and three uninspired central performances".
Retreat is streaming now on BBC iPlayer.
