Exclusive: Coronation Street clears up fan confusion over Abi and Kevin being "back together"

Coronation Street star Sally Carman-Duttine has responded to fan confusion surrounding recent scenes for her character Abi Webster.

Viewers were baffled earlier this month as Abi put her arm around her estranged husband Kevin when they were visiting Debbie Webster's flat together. They also looked cosy during Debbie's birthday party at the Rovers Return in the following episode.

The couple's marriage hit the rocks last year after Abi had an affair with Kevin's "brother" Carl, who was later revealed to be his nephew.

Kevin soon had to endure the heartbreak of seeing Abi and Carl become a proper couple, but Carl's wayward behaviour destroyed his romance with Abi within a matter of months. So, does Abi now see Kevin in a different light again?

When Abi and Kevin now looking cosy together again, Corrie fans have been flooding social media with questions.

Some wondered whether they'd missed an episode, or if Kevin had decided to give Abi another chance in an off-camera development.

Digital Spy caught up with Sally on the red carpet at the Inside Soap Awards 2026 this week and sought answers on behalf of all the fans…

Sally exclusively told us: "No, they're not together! But there was a moment in that scene where I was like: 'I'm going to put my arm around Mike Le Vell, to sort of maybe give the writers some incentive to bring them back together'.

"I'm doing my best! Whether it's going to work or not, I don't know. But no, we're not back together."

Asked whether Abi deserves another chance from Kevin, Sally joked: "She deserves endless chances! Just because she likes a bit of crack, she's blown up cars and had numerous affairs, who hasn't?"

Sue Devaney, who plays Debbie, agreed: "The thing is, it's soap! You can murder somebody and have a second chance."

Carl is currently on a mission to redeem himself after his horrible behaviour over the past 12 months, although he's still causing stresses for his mum Debbie.

The bad boy has just landed a new job working on the switch at Street Cars – and Debbie's husband Ronnie has ordered him to move out of their flat once he has his first pay cheque.
