Alfred Dunhill Championship moves to Durban Country Club

Translate

The Alfred Dunhill Championship will have a new home in 2027, with the prestigious tournament set to be played at the iconic Durban Country Club for the first time in its history.

The tournament will take place from 25 to 28 February 2027, bringing one of South Africa’s premier professional golf events to one of the country’s most historic courses.

The move represents a significant change for the Sunshine Tour and DP World Tour co-sanctioned championship, which will also feature an increased prize fund of $2 million (R32.6 million).

Historic venue for prestigious tournament

Durban Country Club is one of South Africa’s most renowned golf venues, with a long history of hosting major tournaments and some of the biggest names in the game.

The arrival of the Alfred Dunhill Championship adds another major event to the club’s golfing history and gives fans in KwaZulu-Natal the opportunity to watch leading Sunshine Tour and DP World Tour professionals competing on home soil.

The 2027 edition will also come later in the year than the championship’s traditional slot, with the February date forming part of the tournament’s new schedule.

Increased prize fund

The move to Durban Country Club comes alongside a significant increase in the tournament’s prize purse.

The $2 million prize fund strengthens the status of the Alfred Dunhill Championship as a major fixture on the South African golfing calendar and is expected to attract a strong international field.

The championship’s co-sanctioning by the Sunshine Tour and DP World Tour provides players with an opportunity to compete for valuable ranking points while showcasing professional golf in South Africa.

This year’s Alfred Dunhill Championship will be played – as it was in 2025 – at Royal Johannesburg Club East Course from 11 to 14 December.
