Egypt’s exports to China see 199.8% jump

The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) revealed a significant surge in Egyptian exports to China, reaching 199.8 percent during the first half of 2026.

This brought bilateral trade between the two countries to US$11.3 billion, despite the continued widening trade deficit in favor of China, whose imports were primarily concentrated in the electrical machinery and automotive sectors.

Whopping 199.8 Percent Jump

CAPMAS issued a report reviewing economic relations between Egypt and China, revealing that the value of Egyptian exports to China rose to $ 840.8 million during the first half of 2026, compared to $ 280.5 million during the same period in 2025, representing a 199.8 percent increase.

The value of Egyptian imports from China reached $ 10.4 billion during the first half of 2026, compared to $ 9.1 billion during the same period in 2025, reflecting a 14.3 percent increase.

This indicates that the value of trade exchange between the two countries will increase to $ 11.3 billion during the first half of 2026, compared to $9.3 billion during the same period in 2025, an increase of 21.5 percent.

Egypt’s Top Exports

The most important commodity groups exported by Egypt to China during the first half of 2026 were:

• Fuels, mineral oils, and their distillation products, valued at $ 494 million
• Vegetables and fruits ($150.6 million)
• Cotton and vegetable textile fibers ($ 76.4 million)
• Natural calcium phosphate ($ 31 million) organic and inorganic chemical products ($ 21 million).

Cars Lead Imports

The most important commodity groups imported by Egypt from China during the first half of 2026 were:

• Machinery and electrical and mechanical appliances ($4.1 billion)
• Cars, tractors, and bicycles ($1.2 billion)
• Iron and steel and their products ($930.7 million)
• Plastics and their products ($524 million)
• Organic and inorganic chemical products ($423.7 million).

Remittances from Egyptian in China

Remittances from Egyptians working in China reached $23.3 million during the 2024/2025 fiscal year, compared to $19.5 million during the 2023/2024 fiscal year. Meanwhile, remittances from Chinese workers in Egypt amounted to $3.5 million during the 2024/2025 fiscal year, compared to $3.1 million during the 2023/2024 fiscal year.

Egypt’s population was recorded at 109.4 million in August 2026, while China’s population was 1.4 billion during the same period.

The number of Egyptians residing in the People’s Republic of China, according to the embassy’s estimates, reached 8,000 by the end of 2024.
