RAUB, Oct 2 — Two Myanmar nationals were brought before the Sessions Court here today to face a joint charge of causing injury to a policeman last month.

However, the charge against the two men, aged 26 and 30, was not read out as they did not understand Malay.

The prosecution was conducted by Deputy Public Prosecutors Wong Zhi Qian and Hardave Singh Baldeb Sing, who proposed that no bail be offered as the two foreigners did not have valid documents to stay in Malaysia.

Judge Siti Hajar Mustaffa then set Oct 14 for case mention to allow a Myanmar interpreter to be present in court.

The court also denied bail to both men.

A 40-year-old police corporal was reported to have been seriously injured after allegedly being assaulted by two Myanmar men he reprimanded for making noise at Kampung Pamah Kulat here on Sept 25.

Acting Pahang police chief Datuk Azry Akmar Ayob said the policeman was acting on complaints from residents about the suspects, who were believed to be drunk and had been playing loud music through a loudspeaker by the roadside. — Bernama
