Sivasangari fights back to reach Silicon Valley Open final

National squash player S Sivasangari moved within one win of clinching the Silicon Valley Open 2026 title after reaching the final in Redwood City, California, on Friday.
The tournament third seed fought back from a game down to defeat India’s Anahat Singh 5-11, 11-6, 11-4, 11-7 in 37 minutes in a rematch of the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games final.
Sivasangari, who retained the women’s singles gold medal at the Asian Games in Japan last month, will face Egypt’s Farida Mohamed in the final later today.
Farida, who is ranked world No 20, made it to the final after defeating American Marina Stefanoni 11-3, 4-11, 11-6, 6-11, 11-8.
The victory put Sivasangari, who is world No 4, through to her second consecutive final at the tournament, giving her a chance to make amends for last year’s 10-12, 11-4, 4-11, 4-11 defeat to American Olivia Weaver.
