EUROMATCH–NPFL: ‘If Plateau Utd Can Draw In Minna, We Can Do Even Better’ – Warri Wolves V/Captain Joseph

Warri Wolves vice-captain and defensive midfielder, David Joseph, says the Seasiders are determined and focused on building on their first victory of the season when they visit Niger Tornadoes in Wednesday’s EUROMATCH–NPFL 2026/2027 Matchday 5 clash at the Bako Kotangora Stadium, Minna, Completesports.com reports.

The Seasiders defeated Kwara United 1-0 on Sunday 20 September at the Southern Delta University Stadium Ozoro. They are currently 17th in the league table on three points, with a game in hand.

Warri Wolves Draw Confidence From First Victory

Joseph, 31, spoke after the team’s training session on Tuesday night in Minna, recalling that if Plateau United could come to Minna and secure a point against Tornadoes following a 1-1 draw, nothing would stop the Seasiders from doing the same or even better.

Minna appears to be a good hunting ground for Warri Wolves, who held Niger Tornadoes to a valuable 0-0 draw on 1 March 2026.

“Yeah, the victory (against Kwara United) was very, very important to us because we had lost our first two away games of the season. Being our first home match of the season, we needed to give the fans what they crave for and something to look ahead to for the season.

“So, the three points was a big and welcome boost for us. Coming to Niger Tornadoes, we’re determined to get something out of the game,” Joseph stated.

Warri Wolves Ready To Challenge Home Advantage

On how the team will deal with the atmosphere and pressure of the game, especially as Tornadoes will be playing in front of their home fans, which may give them a slight advantage, the Warri Wolves defensive midfielder said if Plateau United could come to Minna and secure a point, nothing would stop Wolves from doing the same or even better.

“The last time Plateau United came here, they were able to secure a point after a 1-1 draw. So, it shows that if we get our acts together, we can even go a step above that feat by possibly taking all three points.

“We’ve got to be determined, keep our focus, play as a team and take our chances, which is very important because the chances will come.”

Joseph Rallies Younger Players

Joseph rallied his teammates, especially the younger ones, to give their best in the Minna showdown.

“Let’s fight together, maintain discipline and the tactics, and see what comes out at the end of the day,” he said, promising the team’s fans that the squad’s attitude in the game would be positive.

“One thing is guaranteed, and that’s the fact that we’ll give our all in the game. We’re going to give our best; that one is assured. And at the end of the match, we’ll see what our hard work and our discipline will do for us.”
