Kenya Power Announces Thursday Blackouts in Nairobi, Kajiado, Nyeri, Kiambu and Kitui

Kenya Power has announced planned electricity interruptions in parts of Nairobi, Kajiado, Nyeri, Kiambu and Kitui counties on Thursday, October 15, 2026, to facilitate maintenance.

The scheduled outages will affect several residential areas, businesses, schools, hospitals and other institutions, with most interruptions expected to run from 9am to 5pm. Some areas in Nairobi, Kajiado and Kitui will experience power cuts starting at 8am.

Below is the full list of affected areas and scheduled outage times.

Nairobi County

1. Kasarani

• Time: 9am–5pm
• Affected areas: Kasarani, Warren Concrete, Shrink Park, Haco, parts of Muirigo, Maternity, Mt. Lavern School, St. Francis Hospital, Kwa Zulu, Hunters, Mugumoini, Sunton, Majimazuri, Aberdare, Ngomongo Police, Garage and adjacent customers.

2. Part of Westlands

• Time: 9am–5pm
• Affected areas: Kipkabus Road, Stima Sacco, Mushembi Road, parts of Ngara Road, Museum of Kenya, Chemelil Road, Pokot Road, parts of Westlands Road, Stanbic Bank, Pushotam, Standard Chartered Bank and adjacent customers.

3. Tassia

• Time: 8am–5pm
• Affected areas: Whole of Kwa Ndege, whole of Makuti, whole of Riverbank Tassia, Amani Court, Muhindi Mweusi Supermarket Tassia, Tassia Catholic, Tassia High Street, Melisa Academy, behind Naivas Supermarket Nyayo Gate B, Tassia Hill, Tassia Community Church and adjacent customers.

Kajiado County

4. Ololua

• Time: 8am–5pm
• Affected areas: Mathare, Rapha, Ukombozi, Olenaimasia, Efatha, Ololua Centre, Ololua Police, Imai, Kianugu, Gataka, Primate Research, Ololua Ridge, the whole of Olkeri and adjacent customers.

Nyeri County

5. AAA Growers

• Time: 9am–5pm
• Affected areas: AAA Growers and adjacent customers.

6. Kiamuiru, Githiru and Satima

• Time: 9am–5pm
• Affected areas: Mugwathi Gardens, Kiamuiru Primary, Kiamuiru Catholic, Satima Millers, Vetpro, Kiamuiru Booster, Githiru Coffee Factory, Githiru Polytechnic, Githiru Market, Kiamuiru Sawmill, Kwa Rhoda, Kwa Kigera, Muruguru SDA, Jubilant and adjacent customers.

Kiambu County

7. Sasini and Tinganga

• Time: 9am–5pm
• Affected areas: Sasini, Tinganga Market, Tinganga Secondary and Primary schools, Ngemwa, Kangongo and adjacent customers.

8. Part of Thindigua

• Time: 9am–5pm
• Affected areas: Quickmart Thindigua, Thindigua Gardens, Lilac and adjacent customers.

Kitui County

9. Kaliku, Malalani and Endau

• Time: 8am–5pm
• Affected areas: Kisalu, Kamanyu, Kaliku, Yiuku, Endau, Malalani, Makongo and adjacent customers.

Residents and businesses in the listed areas are advised to plan for the temporary interruption of electricity and make alternative arrangements where necessary. Power may be restored earlier than scheduled or remain unavailable until the maintenance work is completed.
