Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian government is pitching 32 strategic infrastructure projects worth Rp207.64 trillion (approximately US$11.77 billion) to Japanese investors as part of a broader push to accelerate national development.
The projects, managed by state- and region-owned enterprises (SOEs and ROEs), span a variety of sectors, including toll roads, railways, ports, transit-oriented development, commercial real estate, and steel fabrication facilities.
"All of these projects have been curated and prepared as attractive investment opportunities to support the acceleration of national infrastructure development," Deputy for Coordination of SOE Management and Development at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs Ferry Irawan said in statement released here on Friday.
The pitch was made during the 2026 Indonesia-Japan Transportation and Infrastructure Business Forum in Tokyo, which was co-organized by the Indonesian Embassy and the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs to connect Indonesian project owners with representatives from 36 Japanese companies.
To attract investors, Irawan highlighted Indonesia's strong economic fundamentals amid global uncertainty. He noted that in the first half of 2026, the Southeast Asian nation's economy grew by 5.61 percent, inflation remained under control at 3.34 percent, and realized investment exceeded Rp1,010 trillion (US$57.29 billion).
"Investor confidence is also reflected in Indonesia's sovereign credit rating being maintained at BBB with a stable outlook by S&P Global Ratings, as well as a 2025 JETRO survey showing that 69.1 percent of Japanese companies in Indonesia expect to post operating profits," he added.
Indonesia is targeting an ambitious economic growth rate of 8 percent by 2029, a goal heavily reliant on productive foreign investment that creates quality jobs and accelerates technology transfer.
Deputy Chief of Mission at the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo Maria Renata Hutagalung noted that Japan remains one of Indonesia's most trusted partners, citing Tokyo's consistent support for major infrastructure initiatives such as the Jakarta Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) network and West Java's Patimban Port.
Through the forum, Indonesia hopes to deepen bilateral cooperation, particularly in attracting foreign direct investment, building capacity, and facilitating knowledge and technology transfer.
