A resident of Eizariya in his twenties was arrested on suspicion of planning an imminent terror attack, Israel Police announced on Sunday afternoon.

Upon receiving a report of the alleged threat, Border Police officers and those from the Ma'ale Adumim station set up roadblocks and conducted searches to locate the suspect.

Police eventually arrested him in Eizariya and took him to the Ma'ale Adumim station for further questioning.

A search of his belongings yielded a knife and a glass jar containing nails and paper, items he allegedly intended to set alight and throw.

The Judea and Samaria District's Counterterrorism Unit has been assigned the investigation.

Pharmacy student indicted for planning poison, explosive terror attacks

On Thursday, the State Attorney’s Office filed an indictment against a 22-year-old pharmacy student from east Jerusalem for allegedly planning a series of terrorist attacks using poisons and explosives against Jewish civilians and security forces.

The plans, according to prosecutors, were intended to cause mass casualties and followed a process of ideological radicalization that was fueled in part by the October 7 massacre and the ensuing Israel-Hamas War.

The indictment, filed with the Jerusalem District Court against Mohammed Shalbi, charges him with preparation for an act of terrorism constituting murder and receiving training for terrorist purposes.
