Steelers elevate two wide receivers in flurry of roster moves for Paris game

Wide receiver help is on the way in Paris, as the Pittsburgh Steelers elevated two players just before their Week 7 matchup against the New Orleans Saints.

In a flurry of roster moves that also included DeShon Elliott's activation from injured reserve on Saturday, the Steelers announced the practice squad elevations of wide receivers Brandon Johnson and Brandon Smith.

Johnson, who previously played for the Denver Broncos (2022-2023), rejoined the Steelers in September 2026 for his fourth stint with the team. During his NFL career, he has appeared in 24 games and recorded 26 catches for 335 yards and five touchdowns.

Smith, who previously spent time with the New York Jets, New England Patriots, Dallas Cowboys, and Arizona Cardinals, signed a reserve/future contract with the Steelers following the 2025 season. He was previously elevated for the team's Week 5 and Week 6 games, with his Week 7 elevation serving as his third and final practice squad elevation of the season.

The elevation of both Johnson and Smith means that newly signed wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling will likely have to wait another week before he's called up to the Steelers' active roster, but hopefully the team has enough current firepower on offense to walk out of Paris with their fifth win of the 2026 season.
