Kanojo wa Uso o Ai Shisugiteru Manga Gets New Story
The November issue of Shogakukan's Cheese! magazine announced on September 24 that Kotomi Aoki will launch a new work for her Kanojo wa Uso o Ai Shisugiteru (She Loves Lies Too Much) manga to celebrate the 10-year anniversary in the next issue on October 23. The magazine does not state whether it is a new series or a new chapter, but it will have 45 pages in the issue.
Kanojo wa Uso o Ai Shisugiteru centers around Aki Ogasawara, a "sound creator" who composes for the popular band Crude Play and earns more than 100 million yen (about US$635,000) a year. Despite this, he conceals all of this and calls himself a NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training). Seeking a life outside of music, he begins seeing a high school girl named Riko Koeda. However, what Aki does not know is that Riko is actually a huge fan of Aki's music. Even with his girlfriend, Aki cannot escape the world of music.
The series received a new chapter in for Aoki's art exhibit in 2018. The exhibit showcased art from Aoki's manga series, including Kanojo wa Uso o Ai Shisugiteru, Boku wa Imōto ni Koi o Suru, and Niji, Amaete yo..
Aoki launched the manga in Cheese! magazine in 2009, and ended it in February 2017. Shogakukan published 22 compiled book volumes. The manga inspired a live-action film, which opened in Japan in December 2013, and had a 10-episode live-action prologue that debuted in the same month. The manga also inspired a live-action film adaptation in 2013, and later inspired a live-action Korean show. Aoki's Boku wa Imōto ni Koi o Suru romance manga also inspired a live-action film in 2006 and an original video anime (OVA) in 2005.
Aoki released a new chapter for the Niji, Amaete yo. (Niji, Lean on Me.) manga in Cheese! in September 2020. The series ended in November 2020 with the ninth volume. Aoki launched the manga in Cheese! in July 2017.
Aoki's BokuKimi manga ran in Shogakukan's Shōjo Comic magazine from 2005 to 2008, and Shogakukan has published 6 million copies of the 12 volumes. Shogakukan published an English version of the first volume in Japan in 2009. The series received a live-action film adaptation in 2009.
