Carrie release guide: When are new episodes out on Prime Video and what are the titles?

Pay attention everyone, class is in session. The brand new Carrie remake is very nearly here, and the episode titles for the Prime Video series have officially been unveiled.

Stephen King's horror novel is being brought into the modern day in the new series from horror titan Mike Flanagan, with Summer H Howell taking on the role of the telekinetic teen whose cruel treatment from her classmates drives her to revenge.

Trailers and first-look pictures have given us a glimpse of what we can expect, but the full series is likely to be under scrutiny from fans of the book and the 1976 film.

But, in the meantime, this is what we know so far.

All eight episodes of Carrie will be released on Prime Video on 7 October - just in time for the build-up to Halloween.

The episode titles are:

• Episode 1 - First Period
• Episode 2 - Foreign Language
• Episode 3 - Social Studies
• Episode 4 - Dramatic Arts
• Episode 5 - Physical Education
• Episode 6 - Home Economics
• Episode 7 - Romantic Literature
• Episode 8 - AP Physics

What is the plot of the Carrie series?

The official synopsis from Prime Video reads: "Based on Stephen King's iconic debut novel, Carrie is a bold, timely, and surprising reinvention of the classic coming‑of‑age story, adapted as a television series for the first time by visionary showrunner Mike Flanagan.

"The series follows misfit high‑schooler Carrie White (Summer H Howell) who has spent her life hidden away inside the walls of her home with her fiercely protective mother, Margaret (Samantha Sloyan).

"After her father’s sudden, untimely death thrusts her into the unforgiving ecosystem of public high school, Carrie is forced to navigate a viral bullying scandal that tears through her community, the relentless pressure and casual cruelty of the social‑media age, and the awakening of mysterious telekinetic powers that rise alongside her adolescence."

Is Stephen King involved in the Carrie series?

Yes, King is on board as an executive producer.

He recently gave a glowing review of the series, writing on X (formerly Twitter): "Mike Flanagan's version of CARRIE is brilliant. What it has to say about social media is shocking and true."

Buckle in - it's nearly time to return to school.
