Sept. 11 a holiday in Ilocos Norte for Marcos Sr.’s birth anniversary

MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has declared Sept. 11 (Friday) a special non-working holiday in Ilocos Norte to commemorate the 109th birth anniversary of his late father and namesake, former President Ferdinand E. Marcos Sr.

By authority of President Marcos, Executive Secretary Ralph Recto signed Proclamation No. 1421 on Sept. 8, declaring the holiday to give Ilocos Norte residents the opportunity to participate in the commemorative activities.

“It is but fitting and proper that the people of the Province of Ilocos Norte be given full opportunity to participate in the occasion and enjoy the celebration,” the proclamation states.

President Marcos is expected to lead the activities in celebration of his father’s birth anniversary in Marcos Sr.’s hometown of Batac City on Friday.

He is scheduled to attend a Mass at Batac Church, and lead the wreath-laying ceremony at his father’s monument.

Other holidays

Meanwhile, Marcos also declared Sept. 10 (Thursday)  a special non-working holiday in the Bais City, Negros Oriental, to celebrate the Hudyaka Festival: Festival of Harvest, through Proclamation No. 1420.

Marcos also issued Proclamation No.1422 declaring Sept. 9 (Wednesday) a special non-working holiday in the Banton, Romblon, to mark the celebration of the Hanrumanan Festival.

The two proclamations were also signed by Recto on Sept. 8. /gsg
