PNP-HPG relieves Metro chief, 12 other officers
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police-Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) on Sunday announced that it has relieved and reassigned the head of its Regional Highway Patrol Unit-National Capital Region (RHPU-NCR) and 12 of his men over an alleged confrontation with customs agents.
“The PNP-HPG recognizes the seriousness of the allegations and has taken immediate steps to ensure that the incident is properly investigated,” it said.
Among those relieved effective on Aug. 22 were RHPU-NCR chief Col. Joey Tomas Caise, Lt. Col. Carlo Carreon Loñosa, Maj. Roman Amparo Exile, three senior master sergeants, three corporals and four patrolmen.

In a social media post, former Inquirer columnist Ramon Tulfo claimed that HPG-NCR police officers raided a compound in Bulacan where Bureau of Customs (BOC) personnel were destroying smuggled cigarettes seized in operations.
