Flood alert for coastal residents, with 5.2m high tide tomorrow

Translate

Residents in low-lying and coastal areas of Selangor have been urged to remain vigilant against floods with a high tide forecast tomorrow, with water levels expected to reach up to 5.2m high.

The Selangor fire and rescue department said water flows from the Buloh and Ijok rivers could converge with the high tide, increasing the risk of flooding in low-lying areas. Residents in coastal and low-lying areas, such as around Kuala Selangor, should make early preparations.

It said the flooding in Kampung Melayu Subang today was believed to have been caused by overflow from the local drainage system.

Social media posts today showed Kampung Melayu Subang hit by flash floods again following heavy rain this afternoon, with water inundating residential areas and submerging parts of residential compounds and access roads.

A Threads user, Nurul Azuwana, said that water levels rose after only about 20 minutes of rain, while another user, hyenarawr1, claimed that it was the third flash flood to hit the area this week. On Monday (Nov 2), about 92 houses in Kampung Melayu Subang were reported to have been flooded.
