Lost British hikers rescued in Batu Ferringhi forest
GEORGE TOWN: Two British hikers were rescued after getting lost while trekking in the Iron Waterfall forest area in Batu Feringghi on Sunday night.
The Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency call at 8.13pm regarding the missing hikers, a 20-year-old woman and a 60-year-old man.
"Both victims were uninjured and in a safe condition while waiting for assistance to arrive," the department said in a statement on its Facebook page.
Search and rescue personnel located the hikers based on location coordinates shared via WhatsApp.
The operation was supported by the police and local residents.
Both hikers were found safe at 10.40pm, about 3.5km from the base of the hill, before being escorted down safely.
