Strictly Come Dancing judge Anton Du Beke announces new 'dream' project away from the BBC series

He may be best known for offering his verdict on the dancefloor, but Strictly Come Dancing star Anton Du Beke is preparing for the festive season by releasing a brand-new Christmas-themed single.

The professional dancer will release 'Dance My Way to Christmas' in the lead-up to the festive season, with the track – which he has co-written with Jacqui Hicks – seeing the judge sing alongside vocalist Lance Ellington.

Speaking about the song, Anton, who has been a mainstay on the long-running BBC series, said: "Launching a Christmas single is something I've always wanted to do, for as long as I can remember."

He added: "For me, Christmas is the most magical time of year and the music played is a huge part of that and what makes it so memorable. All the favourites are rolled out and for 'Dance My Way to Christmas' to possibly be part of the seasonal playlists is a dream come true!

"Jacqui is a very accomplished songwriter and is a performer in her own right. I've known her for five years or so as she is married to Pat, the trombone player in our band."

"She knows me well, the kind of music I love, the style of thing that I love and it's just perfect. Then when we got into the studio with the band and Lance, it was everything I could have dreamed of. I can't wait to share it with people," Anton continued.

The single, which is said to be inspired by the genre of classic swing, will be released on 6 November, with an official music video being released on Anton's YouTube channel on the same day.

The song will also be performed on his upcoming show, Anton at Christmas. The production will tour across the UK in December, beginning in Watford on 10 December before concluding in Brighton on 22 December.

The tour, which has nine shows in total, is said to include Anton's "trademark warmth, energy and showbiz sparkle", with the judge "ready to fill theatres with laughter, musical numbers and plenty of festive cheer".

On the BBC series itself, fans got some great news earlier this week as it was confirmed that Delta Goodrem would be returning to the dancefloor this weekend after she missed Saturday's (17 October) live show due to an injury.

Strictly Come Dancing airs on BBC One and streams on BBC iPlayer.
