Other Mommy North America Box Office: Less Than $1 Million Away From Entering Jessica Chastain’s Top 10 Highest-Grossing Films
Jessica Chastain’s Other Mommy has been dominating the North American box office since its October 9 release. Despite poor word of mouth, the horror film is topping the US box office. The movie collected solid numbers domestically and worldwide during its opening weekend and maintained its momentum on its first Monday. Owing to its low production costs, the film is expected to be profitable despite the poor word of mouth.

More About Other Mommy
Based on the bestselling novel by Josh Malerman, Other Mommy is a shocking new nightmare that follows Bela, a young girl who forms a relationship with a sinister entity in her home that looks uncannily like her own mother. As the entity befriends Bela, she soon finds herself being hunted by the very presence that has entered her life.
It is rare for any film, much less a horror film, to be narratively structured around a young child. Making matters even more challenging, Other Mommy is told from the perspective of seven-year-old Bela, who appears in almost every scene. The role demands a depth and range of emotion that few child actors could achieve. It is no exaggeration to say that the film hinged on this casting decision.
