Lagos will play host to the Beyond the Ropes boxing show on Saturday, October 24, 2026, when Oluwatosin Adeshina, popularly known as Destiny Boy, takes on Taofeek Ganiyu, nicknamed Africa Lion Tearboxer, in the main bout.

The event will take place at Araromi Stadium, Gbagada, along Bariga Road, and is sanctioned by the Nigerian Boxing Board of Control. The guest artiste is 9ice, while the show is supported by Hon. Morufu Idowu Alli-Balogun.

Tension has been building ahead of the fight. Destiny Boy was in Ibadan over the weekend, where he staged a street show at the Ashi Junction rail line to connect with his fans.

The former Ibadan-based boxer, who is now under the management of Firo Boxing Promotions, thrilled a large crowd with shadowboxing and pad work alongside his trainer, giving them a glimpse of his preparation.

Destiny Boy insists that his time has come, while Africa Lion Tearboxer has vowed to tear his opponent apart when they meet in the ring. For Destiny Boy, the bout is a chance to affirm his growing reputation, while his opponent is aiming to stop him and establish his own dominance.

The Chief Executive Officer of Firo Boxing Promotions, Tijani Taofeek Adedamola, told journalists that the road shows organised for boxers on the fight card are meant to strengthen their connection with local communities and supporters.

He said the initiative gives the fighters an opportunity to interact directly with their fans and builds a deeper sense of belonging in the communities that back them.

“Boxing has evolved as a means of livelihood for young Nigerian boxers, hence why we are supporting them at Firo Entertainment and creating a platform for them to realise their dreams and showcase their talents,” Adedamola said.

The promotion said the initiative reflects its commitment to grassroots boxing development, creating visibility for emerging talents and positioning the sport as a viable career path for young Nigerians.
