Not a single Juventus or Milan player featured in Roberto Mancini’s first four games back in charge of Italy and the coach leaned on Inter and Atalanta instead.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Mancini used 23 players, drawn from 17 different clubs, across the four Nations League games of the extended international break.

Inter and Atalanta supplied three players each, the only real blocs in the side. Counted by parent club, both rise to four, with Davide Frattesi on loan at Lazio from Inter and Daniel Maldini on loan at Cagliari from Atalanta.

Juventus and Milan miss out for Italy under Mancini

Thirteen clubs supplied one player each, and neither Juventus nor Milan was among them. Cagliari and Napoli had two apiece, though Giovanni Di Lorenzo is losing ground to Michael Kayode at right-back.

Atalanta’s presence may also prove short-lived. Giacomo Raspadori and Gianluca Scamacca are fighting for the same position, Giorgio Scalvini is competing with Gianluca Mancini for a place, and Raspadori left camp injured.

Captain Gianluigi Donnarumma was the only ever-present, playing all four games. Alessandro Bastoni, Sandro Tonali and Pio Esposito each made three starts, while Mohamed Ali Zoma was the only player used solely off the bench.

Players used, by club (optional add-on):
Inter: Bastoni, Barella, Pio Esposito
