Indian equestrian squads for Asian Games 2026 — Full list of dressage, eventing teams travelling to Aichi-Nagoya

India’s equestrian contingent is headed to the Asian Games 2026 after months of finding itself embroiled in selection-related controversy.

In the last two editions of the Asian Games, India has a dressage team gold, an individual dressage bronze and a silver in both individual and team eventing. Only Hriday Chheda, part of the champion Indian dressage team from Hangzhou, and Fouaad Mirza, who bagged both the silvers in 2018, will feature in Aichi-Nagoya as part of the main lineup.

India has opted for a fairly inexperienced squad in a run-up that has been riddled with selection disputes, administrative hiccups, and a rider losing his berth because his steed tested positive for a parasitic infection (Captain Ahaan Kumar’s horse Bolivar Gio Granno).

Shruti Vora, Indian equestrienne in dressage, is parricularly one to watch. An Asian Games veteran, the 54-year-old comes with an impressive resume, having become the first Indian rider to win a 3-star Grand Prix event (CDI-3) at the FEI Dressage World Cup in Lipica, Slovenia and picking up three silver medals (Team, Individual, and Individual Freestyle) at the FEI Asian Continental Equestrian Championships in Pattaya, Thailand, in November 2025.

Olympian Fouaad Mirza, too, is returning to a national equestrian contingent for the first time since the Tokyo Olympics, having missed out on selection for the 2023 Asiad and the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Dressage: Shruti Vora (Magnanimous), Gaurav Pundir (Milli), Jai Sud (Goofy La Perla), Hriday Chheda (Dono Di Maggio);

Reserves: Anush Agarwalla (Straight Horse Floriana), Sudipti Hajela (Biden)

Three-day eventing: Ashish Limaye (Willy Be Dun), Arjan Nagra (Cooley Goodwood), Fouaad Mirza (Camouflage 38);

Reserves: Pradeep Kumar (Lux Like Cruise), Ashish Limaye (Easy Turn), Shashank Singh Kataria (HB Zara)
