Injured Alexander Isak returns to Liverpool, to miss Sweden’s Nations League group fixtures

Sweden striker Alexander Isak will miss his ​country’s three remaining Nations League ‌group-stage fixtures due to ​a minor injury and is set to return to club side Liverpool, both club and country confirmed on Sunday.

The 27-year-oldscored in Sweden’s 2-1 triumph over Romania on Friday but will play no further part in the group stage fixtures due to an injury neither Sweden nor Liverpool revealed details of.

Sweden hosts Poland on Monday and Bosnia & Herzegovina and Romania in its other two group fixtures left, while Liverpool will face Manchester City at Anfield on October 11. There is no news on Isak’s availability for that fixture either.

Sweden and Burnley centre back Hjalmar Ekdal has also left the training camp ⁠with a minor injury.

“No replacements have ⁠been called up at this time,” Sweden ‌clarified in its statement.
