Cowboys cheerleaders crushed for dark & moody 'stripper' costumes, an odd free throw & Costco meal 'deals'

Welcome to Screencaps, "America's Best Daily Column," as named by the readers. Screencaps, which publishes seven-days-a-week, is a mix of sports, pop culture, and emails from sane readers from around the world. This column isn't for the coastal elites. Give us a week to steal your heart. Our track record is pretty good. Let's have some fun.

Cowboys cheerleaders ripped for 'Stampede' look

Did you see Jerry Jones' reaction to the end of Sunday's game against the Cardinals where the Dallas defense gave up TWENTY (20!!!!) fourth quarter points only to lose in overtime?

"S–T," Jerry yelled from his box as he slammed his hands into a table as his 'Boys ran their record to 3-5 with the 33-30 loss.

These are very dark, very moody times for Jerry. This was supposed to be a huge month. The team has four home games at AT&T. The NFC East was his for the taking with the Eagles floundering and coming to town on Thanksgiving.

"This is an indictment of the whole show," Jer told reporters Sunday night after a dark day in Cowboys history. "This is a criticism of everyone."

"For our fans, we have to be better than that, where we got our hands on the win and then dropped the ball," Jerry added.

While Jerry was dealing with disappointment, there was equal disappointment from fans of the Cowboys cheerleaders over the dark, moody costumes.

"Costume malfunction they needed to have those pants elastic size underneath the boots . Also probably not a popular response, but they weren’t very becoming on some of the girls," one fan wrote on Instagram. "They’re beautiful that attractive ladies. My point was there could’ve been something else selected that would’ve made them look and feel a whole lot better."

It was just a total disaster of a day for the organization. Fans really weren't into the "Stampede" look.

"I’m shocked Kellie and Judy let them wear these," wrote another fan.

Fans thought the outfits looked like something a stripper would wear.

"I really don't have a single issue with garters or strippers or the girls here, but the style of these outfits is just soooooo close to stripper outfits that it's simply a mindboggling match for good ol' Conservative DCC Land. As said: I don't care. It's just like cognitive dissonance by DCC, so my guess is that they want to sell more stuff to the 'male audience,'" wrote a concerned DCC fan.

Congrats, we all made it to the finish line

For those of us who live in battleground states, it's been miserable. Thank god it's over until the next cycle which will probably start in March. On Monday, I received EIGHT text messages from campaigns trying to get me to vote for them.

I've also received two video messages from Archie Griffin telling me to vote. And, I'm not kidding, as I typed the last sentence, yet another text message came in telling me where to vote.

Give me those Christmas commercials.

The UK dummies celebrating this are some real morons

The story of this guy who was walking around the world for 28 years is being hailed as some sort of accomplishment for humanity. Meanwhile, this loser left two kids in the UK so he could go for a walk.

And I'm told he couldn't come back to see his kids because he would've broken his promise to walk around the world. Bulls–t. I'm also not convinced that this guy swam all the way across the English Channel.

And what was stopping this guy from jumping on Zoom to talk to his mother? The BBC reported, "His mother, who had not seen him for a decade, told Bushby: 'Where have you been?'"

I'm not buying any of this. The guy's a deadbeat.

"Under the rules he set for his journey, he could not return to the UK to meet his family," the BBC added. "On rare occasions, he met his son and parents, who are divorced, in other countries."

Costco 'deals' ranked in the modern economy for families that can't go to restaurants like the old days

  1. $1.50 hot dog & drink combo
  2. $5 rotisserie chicken
  3. $15 taco platter meal. Ed from VA emailed me literally minutes after Monday Screencaps went out. "The taco one is great….the fajita one is even better.  And yes, your math is spot on.  4 people getting chicken and steak fajitas at our fav mexican restaurant would be paying 70 bucks plus a tip," he wrote.
  4. $12-$15 family pot pie. Millennial Chris B. in Bowling Green says, "It’s like 4 meals for our family of 5. And like $12-15? Done."

What other 'deal' am I missing in family ready-to-go meals these days?

Ohio State coaching

• Jack N. sent this to the Daily OutKick newsletter, but I would like to answer it: How can you explain Ohio State coaching, they were playing the 4th quarter like they were two touchdowns up.  They continued to run the ball play after play and down 2 scores, well Day did  it again, terrible play calling, he won the stats and lost by a lot, amazing.

Kinsey: Two words - ARTHUR & SMITH. The guy thinks he's in the middle of an NFL season. There's zero sense of urgency. We've watched him not call a single play for Jeremiah Smith with the ball on the one-yard-line. We've watched him put the QB in the gun from the one-yard-line.

I honestly have no idea how the guy keeps getting jobs.

What was up with all the Michael Jackson Halloween costumes?

• Gen X Warren has a theory: MJ Halloween costumes: one of my neighbor’s twin sons dressed as Thriller MJ and kids all around the neighborhood have been all about Michael Jackson playing the music. It’s because of the massive hit film earlier this year. It’s interesting to see Gen Alpha really embrace MJ.

Kinsey: Kids were watching a Michael Jackson documentary? Warren, I want to believe you, but I'm not sure kids around here are sitting down to watch an MJ doc. This has to be something they're seeing on Fortnite, TikTok or some other game/app I don't know about.

On modern grocery shopping and why college football is in trouble in certain towns

• 'Sheriff' John in Houston adds his perspective: 1) On the groceries, we used to do the HEB curbside when the boys were younger, but that eventually just became its own PITA. When we did, I was always leery of letting them pick out my produce and fresh meat. Now we just make random grocery and costco runs when we need something or have decided to cook. Other than that, we eat out a lot and I see that getting even more frequent once the final child goes to college next year (I've noticed older couples eat out a lot). Personally, my preferred time for grocery shopping is 10:00 PM on a weeknight or 6:00 AM on a Saturday. Hate crowds.

2) On the college football question. First, OU is having a pretty bad season (except against my Longhorns) so you might expect attendance to be down. That photo might not be indicative of the whole sport. Second, big college stadiums are always slow to fill up pregame and that picture was obviously taken before kickoff. ALL THAT BEING SAID... I have noticed that my personal interest in CFB is waning. I still love gambling and staying up late drinking on the porch on saturdays, but the free agent / mercenary culture is really kind of off-putting.

Those aren't "our guys" anymore, they are someone else's guys we are paying to come play for us. Texas is the worst. We can pay the most for players and we still have the same problems year to year. It does tend to strangle out the enthusiasm in the fans, at least for this fan, and I can really see how fans of the smaller poorer schools lose enthusiasm as well. As soon as you have some good players, they just leave. That would suck. So, to circle back on your question, I don't know if that particular OU photo means anything, but I do think the average fan is losing interest.

Screencaps reader makes an admission

• Jeff E. emails: I don’t go into a grocery store that often.  Maybe once every three months.  FYI - I wouldn’t have groceries delivered.  It’s one of those analog human experiences I sort of enjoy.  New products.  Seeing someone I know.  Plus I want control over my purchases.

Here’s a confession.  A few times - in the past - I’ve seen employees pushing carts around and shopping for an online order.  I have - very occasionally and randomly - taken an item - like a bag of Dove chocolates - and when the shopper isn’t looking I add it to a bag.  A treat for the online shopper.

There you go.  My thoughts on online shopping.

What do kids want this year for Christmas?

• Joey G. tells us: Joe, I'm writing this to give the readers plenty of time to plan on this one. Your kids do not want generic crap from TJ Maxx or Target impulse aisle in their stockings for Christmas.

Here are some things my kids actually like/use:

Multi tool (Amazon has a Leatherman knockoff for $18)

CLICK HERE FOR MORE OUTKICK SPORTS COVERAGE

Fountain Pen - apparently this was a big hit in middle school last year (Pilot Varsity has a 5pk for $15)

Nice Mechanical Pencil (Rotring brand was a big hit $12)

Old Trading Cards (my kids have enjoyed X-Men, ALF and 90s baseball in the past, these are usually $3/pk on eBay)

THE CRAIG CARTON SHOW–UNFILTERED, UNAPOLOGETIC AND UNMISSABLE. DOWNLOAD HIS DAILY PODCAST NOW!

Retro Happy Meal Toys - around $5-10 on eBay. Mac Tonight, Muppet Babies and the food Transformers were a big hit in my household
