Haze spoils air quality in Bacolod City
BACOLOD CITY — The Environmental Management Bureau in the Negros Island Region (EMB-NIR) warned that air quality in Bacolod City and other localities in Negros Occidental was classified as “unhealthy for sensitive groups,” as of noon on Thursday, Sept. 3.
Due to the reduced air quality, the EMB advised individuals with respiratory conditions, such as asthma, to limit outdoor exposure.
Meanwhile, air quality levels in La Carlota City and Canlaon City were reported as fair during the same period.

The advisory reflects a slight improvement from earlier in the day, as 8 a.m. readings recorded significantly worse conditions across the region.

At that time, air quality was rated as “very unhealthy” in Bacolod City, “acutely unhealthy” in La Castellana, and “unhealthy for sensitive groups” in La Carlota City, while Canlaon City remained fair.
