Kashmera backs Sunita: Actor questions Komal Rani’s affair claims

Kashmera Shah has publicly backed her 'maami' Sunita Ahuja following what appeared to be serious allegations made against her by Komal Rani Swarnkar in a recent note. The controversy erupted amid speculation about an alleged affair between Govinda and Komal Rani, his co-star in ‘Roopa’. Weighing in on the matter, Kashmera questioned how a co-star could possibly have insight into such private, personal details.

She further noted that this marked the first time women in their family had been called 'murderers' for defending the men they love, and reaffirmed that she stands proudly by Sunita Ahuja, now and always.

Kashmera Shah on keeping personal life private

In a recent Instagram post, Kashmera talked about how she has always kept a clear line between her work and personal life over the years. She mentioned that even after working alongside many co-stars, she never confided in them about her private feelings or personal matters.

While stopping short of naming Komal Rani directly, Kashmera seemed to question the dynamic between her and Govinda. Kashmera wrote, “Since the beginning of my career, 30 years and 50 films in total not “one co star" of mine knew anything about my personal life or feelings.

The only person I told everything to was the person I married- Krushna Abhishek. I have never heard of such a bond in a work environment where a co worker knows such intimate details".

Kashmera then addressed the criticism aimed at Sunita, noting that women who defend the people they love are often unfairly labelled. She further wrote, “I know I am a strong woman and I married into a family of strong women. We are often called RUDE OBNOXIOUS DOMINATING FOCUSSED SELFISH just because we look out for our families but this is the first time we are called “murderers”. So if every mother,wife,sister,aunt and their dogs are called murderers for protecting the “one man” that they love, be it the father, the husband,the brother, and the dog then so be it.

Komal Rani's note amid the controversy

Komal Rani recently posted a note on Instagram, and while she stopped short of naming Govinda's wife Sunita Ahuja directly, she wrote, "Jo aurat apne hi pati ko salon se jaan se marne ki koshish kar rahi ho aisi auraton ki badduayen kisi ko nhi lagti. (The curses of a woman who has been trying to kill her own husband for years do not affect anyone.)

Nobody ever can be a homebreaker in already broken house." The post followed a viral video from Dakshineshwar Kali Temple, in which Sunita was heard saying, "Mera ghar toot raha hai for no reason.

"Rani further added, “She seems to enjoy putting it on display in public. Is this really a pain or is it a carefully thought out conspiracy? To constantly mentally harass a man, stop him from working, force him to sit at home and waste away, isolate him completely and drive him to the point of death.

I don’t think any good and devoted wife could treat her husband so terribly. Are women like this mentally unwell, or are they simply too clever for their own good, fully aware that what they couldn’t accomplish behind doors, they can achieve by going public and gaining people’s sympathy”.

How the Govinda-Komal Rani rumours started

Speculation about Govinda and his Roopa co-star Komal Rani Swarnkar first surfaced earlier this year, after the two were spotted together at Mumbai airport. Rumours gained further momentum when they were seen at public events together, including a visit to Mumbai's Lalbaugcha Raja.
