Arrest warrant issued vs Romualdez over plunder


MANILA, Philippines — The Sandiganbayan on Monday issued an arrest warrant against former House Speaker and incumbent Leyte Rep. Martin Romualdez over his plunder case.
Once arrested, Romualdez would stay behind bars since plunder is non-bailable.
Earlier, the Office of the Ombudsman filed the information which contains the formal charges against Romualdez.

Ombudsman investigators accused Romualdez and former Ako Bicol party-list Rep. Zaldy Co of alleged “concerted and coordinated acts” in “unlawfully amassing, accumulating, and acquiring ill-gotten wealth” amounting to approximately P56 billion from 2022 to 2025, some of which were purportedly delivered by the bodyguards through suitcases.
