Nabila Razali: Critics can talk, but leave my family alone

AFTER more than a decade in show business, singer and actress Nabila Razali has grown immune to online hate, though she draws a line when critics attack her loved ones.
"If people question my vocals or claim I skip singing lessons, that's fine — I can work on those," said the 33-year-old artiste.
"What truly cuts deep are comments about my family. People ask if my parents are embarrassed of me or say my husband has to turn a blind eye."
Nabila stressed that personal attacks have no impact on her career.
"But I dislike anything that tarnishes my family's dignity," she said at a recent press conference on her new single, 'Cukup Sampai Sini', in Kuala Lumpur.
The 'Akademi Fantasia 10' alumnus rarely reacts to casual online banter, but she refuses to stay silent when her family is dragged into the mud.
"I will respond if someone crosses the line."
Nabila suspects some of her harsher critics might secretly enjoy her work.
"The very people leaving hate comments are probably listening to my songs," she quipped.
Saying that musical taste is subjective, she added, "If you like my music, praise be to God. If you don't, that's fine too — there are plenty of other fish in the sea."
'Cukup Sampai Sini' delivers an empowering message about self-worth and setting boundaries.
Nabila co-composed the music with Justin Seow Seng Tack and penned the lyrics herself.
