Wawasan to consult PN partners before deciding on Melaka election

Translate

LARUT: Wawasan will seek consensus from its Perikatan Nasional partners before deciding whether to field candidates in the upcoming Melaka election.

Its president, Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin, said the decision must be made collectively by all coalition members to ensure PN presents a united front.

"God willing, what matters most is the agreement among our PN partners.

"Only after that will we make an announcement. We do not want to announce anything prematurely, as the decision must be made by all PN members," he said when met after the Larut parliamentary thanksgiving feast held in conjunction with a wedding at the Sungai Bayor PDM Open Hall here last night.

However, he did not elaborate on the party's stance regarding its participation in the forthcoming Sarawak election.

Commenting on the possibility of PN taking legal action against the Registrar of Societies (RoS) over its earlier deregistration, Hamzah said the matter had been brought to court and should be left to the legal process.

"Whatever the case, we have taken this matter to court, so let the court decide," he said.

On Oct 22, the High Court granted PN's application for an interim stay against the RoS decision to revoke the coalition's registration, pending disposal of its judicial review.

The RoS had previously issued an order suspending all PN activities effective Sept 23. According to an RoS statement, the action was taken under Subsection 13(2A) of the Societies Act 1966 following a notice issued to PN on Sept 22.
