It was way back in 1966 that the Star Trek franchise burst onto our screens with a hit television show. Running for three seasons and ending in 1969 after 79 episodes, its brief run was enough to solidify it as one of the most memorable television shows of all time, going on to inspire multiple spin-offs and even a whole fanbase known as 'Trekkies.'

With plenty of television shows and movies released over the years, it is no surprise that video game studios have wanted to cash in on the action, and that was definitely the case with 2026's Star Trek: Voyager - Across the Unknown.

Released back in February, Star Trek: Voyager - Across the Unknown is a rogue-lite survival strategy title by Gamexcite, and despite being just a few months old, it is already set to welcome a brand-new expansion.

The base game follows the story of Captain Kathryn Janeway and her crew who have been left stranded 70,000 light years away in an unexplored region of the Milky Way galaxy. With their ship almost destroyed, resources dwindling and some of the crew missing in action, it is up to players to undertake missions in order to get the crew back to Earth.

Star Trek: Voyager - Across the Unknown is a story-driven survival strategy game in which the fate of the iconic starship is in your hands. Take the helm, manage the ship and resources, and make difficult decisions. Will you be able to bring home the ship and its crew?

With a 'Mostly Positive' rating on Steam, it is safe to say that Star Trek: Voyager - Across the Unknown is proving just as popular as other entries in the Star Trek franchise, so it is no surprise that the Equinox DLC is capturing our attention.

Set to launch some time this month, Star Trek: Voyager Equinox is the next DLC following the launch of Delta Chronicles back in July. As the second of four DLCs planned, Equinox is set to welcome the arrival of the U.S.S. Equinox as a playable ship, and it will be made available to pilot as part of a brand-new game mode. Additionally, there will be new heroes, technologies and more, with the full list of features expected to be announced soon.
