Coronation Street's Samia Longchambon lands new ITV role away from the cobbles

Coronation Street's Samia Longchambon has landed a new ITV role outside of the show, with the actor set to make her panel debut on Loose Women. The Maria Connor star, who has been a staple of the soap for 26 years, is set to appear on the daytime talk show today (16 September).

Sharing the exciting news on her Instagram Stories yesterday, Samia told fans: "I just wanted to let you all know that tomorrow I’m going to be a Loose Lady, I’m going to be on the panel of Loose Women.

"I’ve never actually been on the panel before, I’ve been a guest but I’ve never actually sat there for the whole show chatting – so I’m really looking forward to it.

"I’m also slightly nervous but they do say do something every day that scares you, so that’s what mine’s going to be tomorrow," Samia added. "So if you’re around, it’s half 12 until half one, so grab a brew and join us."

As mentioned, Samia has appeared many times as a guest over the years, first back in 2004 and most recently in 2022.

In other news, last month Denise Welch revealed she was leaving Loose Women to focus on her acting career, explaining to fans on Instagram: "I have the most wonderful memories. It's just that acting has always been my first love, and I think the thing I'm best at.

"At the moment, I'm having the most wonderful opportunities coming my way and I'm grabbing them by the you-know-whats and running with it for this new chapter of my life."

She added: "I'll miss everybody but I will remain friends with the whole gang, because despite what you might read, we are a happy band of campers. Anyway, lots of love, thanks for sticking with me."

Meanwhile, last month former star Carol McGiffin suggested Loose Women was in its "final throes" and needed to be axed.

"There’s nothing worse than having to watch someone you love die a slow, painful death but it’s also painful to watch when something you loved dies a slow death," she wrote in a column for Best.

Loose Women airs on ITV1 and ITVX. Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
