Attempted cable theft disrupts Kajang MRT Line services

Translate

KUALA LUMPUR: An attempted cable theft between Phileo Damansara and Pusat Bandar Damansara stations disrupted train services on the Kajang MRT Line for just over an hour this morning.

Rapid KL said the incident was detected at 5.30am, prompting a temporary power shutdown in the affected area to allow safety inspections and a search for the suspect.

It said the measures were taken to ensure the safety of passengers, personnel and the track area.

"Power supply to the affected area was restored at 6.32am after the necessary measures had been taken," it said in a statement.

Alternative train services were provided while inspection and search operations were underway to ensure passengers could continue their journeys safely.

Rapid KL said it viewed attempted cable theft seriously, as such incidents could disrupt train services and jeopardise the safety of passengers and personnel.

It added that a police report had been lodged with the Brickfields police headquarters to facilitate further investigations.

"Rapid KL will continue to cooperate with the police to assist in the investigation and prevent similar incidents from recurring," it said.
