Emmerdale confirms major Charity news after Sarah makes shock move

Emmerdale's Charity Dingle is thrown a last-minute lifeline next week, when Sarah Sugden's plan to free her pays off – but does this mean they can repair their relationship?

The pressure is on as Charity languishes in prison, and Sarah amps up her blackmail plan against Thea Ramsden and Serena Sugden.

Desperate Thea tries in vain to get Sarah to back down, fearing that what she is demanding could destroy her career. But soon Charity gets the news she never dared dream of – she's a free woman…

"Charity is completely stunned to realise that Sarah is the one responsible for getting her out of prison," reveals our Dales spy. "After everything that's happened, and the fact that Sarah was responsible for destroying her alibi, Charity thought it was game over.

"Instead, she's walking out of prison without a murder conviction, and back into the loving arms of her family."

The first Charity hears about this shock twist is when Serena comes to visit her to talk about Sarah. Both ex-cop Serena and secret best friend Thea are desperately trying to find a way round Sarah's dogged determination to blackmail them.

However, after the visit with Charity, and Thea's failed attempts to talk Sarah out of this, they are forced to take the action she's demanding. Luckily for Charity, it all pans out perfectly – if not for everyone else…

Once freed, Charity is overwhelmed with emotion as Mackenzie Boyd and the Dingles greet her. Everyone is delighted that Charity's nightmare is finally over, but she's shaken that Sarah isn't among the crowd to greet her.

"Sarah made the decision to throw Charity to the wolves when she found out the truth about Leyla's parentage, but now she's won her release," explains our spy.

"For Charity, that's really confusing because Sarah clearly wanted to spare her the pain of doing life for a murder she didn't commit. But Sarah and Jacob have gone through hell now that the truth about Leyla is out, and Charity's betrayal was truly despicable.

"It remains to be seen what the status of their relationship is now."

When she finally sees Sarah at The Woolpack, Charity asks her granddaughter for a private word in the back room, as the rest of the Dingles hope for peace.

Together, they embark on a conversation that's been a long time in the making. But what will Sarah say as Charity asks if there's any way back for them?
