Anthropic (ANTHRO) is exploring data center investments across Australia, with a preference for regional locations and brownfield sites powered by renewable energy, Bloomberg reported.

Jeff Bleich, Anthropic’s international special envoy, said at the Australian Financial Review’s Energy and Climate Summit in Sydney on Tuesday that state premiers had pitched several projects to the company.

“I don’t think there’s any state that’s out of contention,” Bleich said, according to the report, adding that Anthropic (ANTHRO) would prefer facilities away from major population centers and powered by renewable energy.

Anthropic (ANTHRO) has committed $50B to data center facilities at several locations in the U.S., including Texas and New York. The company also recently secured a $35B loan to lease computing chips across five data centers, backed by a guarantee from Google (GOOG).

Google (GOOG) also sees opportunities to pair renewable energy generation with data center development in Australia. Alexander Smith, the company’s head of Asia-Pacific infrastructure and energy, said Google was “increasingly convinced” that such co-location was feasible in the country.
