Confirmed Transfer News: Orlando Pirates sign Bafana winger

The 21-year-old winger enjoyed a meteoric rise at Orlando Pirates. He progressed from the DStv Diski Challenge ranks into the senior team before making his official debut in October 2024.

Nkota quickly became one of the standout youngsters in South African football during the 2024/25 campaign, contributing seven goals and five assists in 39 official appearances under former Pirates coach Jose Riveiro.

MOHAU NKOTA’S SAUDI ADVENTURE

Nkota’s rapid development eventually earned him a move to Saudi Arabia, with Al-Ettifaq Club securing his services in a permanent transfer in July 2025.

The winger made an immediate impression, scoring just seven minutes into his debut and registering three goal contributions in his first four appearances. He was also nominated for the Saudi Pro League’s Assist of the Week.

However, his first full season in Saudi Arabia proved more challenging as he adapted to the physical demands and tactical requirements of the competition. Nkota finished the 2025/26 league campaign with two goals and two assists from 21 appearances.

Now, Al-Ettifaq appear ready to take a different approach to his development.

ORLANDO PIRATES GET THEIR WINGER BACK

The Saudi club has activated a protective clause in Nkota’s original transfer agreement, paving the way for the Kimberley-born attacker to return to Orlando Pirates for the 2026/27 season.

A season-long loan would give Nkota the opportunity to play regularly in the Betway Premiership, regain his confidence and continue developing in an environment where he previously flourished.
