Nagoya, Japan (ANTARA) - Indonesia’s contingent showcased Madura batik motifs on outfits designed by Ivan Gunawan during the parade at the opening ceremony of the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Para Games on Sunday night.
The outfits, themed Sekar Jagat Vijaya, combined traditional Madura batik motifs with modern-style suits and jackets. Indonesian athletes and officials wore the designs as they entered Nagoya City Mizuho Park Athletic Stadium alongside contingents from other participating countries.

The Indonesian contingent was led in the parade by two para-athletics wheelchair racing athletes, Jaenal Aripin, who carried the Indonesian flag, accompanied by Maria Goreti Samiyati.
A total of 47 members of the contingent took part in the parade, including athletes, coaches, officials, National Paralympic Committee (NPC) Indonesia representatives, and members of the Chef de Mission (CdM) team.
Not all Indonesian athletes participated in the parade, as several needed to prepare for their competitions on Monday (October 19).
Before the parade, the opening ceremony began with the Japanese flag being carried by several sports figures, including para-badminton bronze medalist Noriko Ito, wheelchair basketball Paralympian Shinji Negi, and wheelchair table tennis Paralympian Chiyoko Ohmae.
The opening ceremony of the fifth Asian Para Games adopted the concept “We Are Beautiful Individuals” (WABI), conveying a message of togetherness amid the diversity of individuals, cultures, and backgrounds.
The 2026 Asian Para Games run from October 18 to 24 and feature 18 sports.
Indonesia has fielded 103 athletes across 12 sports to compete for medals at Asia’s largest multi-sport event for athletes with disabilities.
