DANGCAGAN, Bukidnon — This municipality capped its 18th Durian Festival on Saturday by offering free durian of the creamy to residents and visitors who joined in the festivities at the public plaza.

Hundreds flocked to enjoy the free servings of freshly opened durian, all raised in the town’s farms.

Dangcagan, which celebrated its 65th founding anniversary, is known as the “Durian Capital of Bukidnon.”

The town’s identity is deeply rooted in durian, supported by its unique elevation, distinct microclimate, and volcanic soil.

Dangcagan Mayor Mark Vincent Dandasan said that the celebration honors the town’s bright future and serves as a community gathering to showcase the culture, talents, and hospitality of the residents.

The festival also celebrates the bountiful harvest of the crop which plays a significant role in the local economy, he added. /gsg
