Carlos Yulo finishes eight and last in the floor exercise final of the Artistic Gymnastics World Championships, ending his bid to recapture the title he first won in 2019
MANILA, Philippines – Carlos Yulo fell short of reclaiming the world title in men’s floor exercise, settling for eighth place at the 54th Artistic Gymnastics World Championships on Saturday, October 24, in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
Yulo scored 13.233 points to finish last in the eight-man final, recording 7.633 in execution and 5.800 in difficulty, along with a 0.10 stick bonus. But he also incurred a 0.30 penalty.
Yulo first captured the floor exercise world title in 2019 in Stuttgart, Germany, establishing himself as one of the sport’s biggest stars before going on to win two Olympic gold medals at the Paris Games.
Just a month ago, Yulo won gold in both the men’s floor exercise and vault at the 2026 Asian Games in Japan. He also finished fourth in the parallel bars.
Fred Richard became the first American in 23 years to win the world title in floor exercise, scoring 14.633 points.
Great Britain’s Jake Jarman took silver with 14.600, while Israel’s Artem Dolgopyat claimed bronze with 14.466. Japan’s Ryosuke Doi finished fourth with 14.366.
Yulo still has a chance to claim a world title in Rotterdam as he is set to compete in the vault final on Sunday, October 25. – Rappler.com
