Lucy Fallon reveals fate of Corrie character Bethany Platt in 'traumatic' pregnancy storyline

Coronation Street actor Lucy Fallon said "my jaw was on the floor" upon learning her character was pregnant by her mother's ex-partner, adding: "It’s not going to end well."
The recent storyline involved a brief encounter with Detective Constable Kit Green (Jacob Roberts), the former boyfriend of her mother Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien), who was imprisoned at the time.
Following Tuesday's episode revealing Bethany's pregnancy with Kit's baby, Fallon said: "My jaw was on the floor.
"I think it’s so good that now they have got to face the consequences of what they’ve done and they can’t just brush it under the carpet in the way that they wanted to.
"It’s adding a whole other level of drama for the audience."

Fallon said that her character’s tryst with Kit “just happened”, adding: “I don’t actually know what she was thinking.
“I think they both were in quite a bad place at the time.”
The actress said her character feels “shocked and devastated” after discovering she is pregnant, adding: “It’s not a situation that she wants to be in.
“She’s got to make a decision whether she goes ahead with it or whether she gets a termination – and that’s quite traumatic in itself.”
Reflecting on the repercussions this may have on the character, Fallon said: “I think it’s going to eat away at her until one day she can’t take it anymore. I think right now it’s deny, deny, deny.
“Coming clean is not an option, especially if she wants to keep a relationship with her mum because she would have the right to never speak to either of them again – the whole family would, it’s not even just Sarah.
“She’s stuck in an impossible position right now.”

Viewers have recently seen her character rekindle a romance with Ryan Connor (played by Ryan Prescott), and Fallon called this pregnancy “a massive spanner in the works” for their budding relationship.
The actress expressed her excitement for the drama to come, adding: “I think any scenes with the Platt family are always the best.
“I feel like the future drama that could happen now with everyone is exciting. There’s so many ways this could go, if and when it all comes out. It’s going to be so good and really fun to play.”
