Eight areas hit unhealthy API levels

KUALA LUMPUR: Eight areas recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings as of 7am today.
According to the Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) portal, four areas in Johor recorded unhealthy API readings — Pasir Gudang (153), Batu Pahat (152), Larkin (152) and Segamat (108).
Four other areas also recorded unhealthy readings which are Johan Setia, Selangor (154); Cheras, Kuala Lumpur (152); Putrajaya (147); and Nilai, Negri Sembilan (126).
Meanwhile, 59 areas recorded moderate API readings, including Batu Muda (99), Bukit Rambai (97), Shah Alam (95), Seremban (93) and Kluang (93).
In Sarawak, Serian IPD recorded a moderate reading of 98, followed by Samarahan (95), Kuching (92), Miri, Sarikei and Sri Aman (83 each), Sibu (80), and ILP Miri and Samalaju (79 each).
No areas recorded good API readings as of 7am.
An API reading of zero to 50 indicates good air quality, 51 to 100 moderate, 101 to 200 unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy, while readings above 300 are classified as hazardous.
