‘American Horror Story’ Returns With Three-Episode Premiere: How to Watch Season 13 Online

“American Horror Story” is back.

Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk’s long-running FX horror anthology returns Thursday, Sept. 24, with a three-episode premiere and one of the franchise’s biggest reunions yet. Season 13 brings back Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd, Gabourey Sidibe and Leslie Grossman, while also adding Ariana Grande to the “AHS” universe.

The new season premieres at 9 p.m. ET on FX, while all three episodes will also be available to stream on Hulu beginning Sept. 24. Hulu is the longtime streaming home of FX and already carries all 12 previous installments of “American Horror Story,” from “Murder House” through “Delicate.”

The show’s 13th installment serves as a franchise-wide crossover. Although early teases — including the return of several “Coven” favorites — led fans to speculate that the season would be another witch-centric outing, the new installment instead brings together characters and mythology from multiple previous seasons.

Lange returns after a lengthy absence from the series and is expected to reprise several of her best-known roles, including Constance Langdon from “Murder House,” Sister Jude from “Asylum,” Fiona Goode from “Coven” and Elsa Mars from “Freak Show.” Paulson, Peters and other franchise veterans are similarly returning as past characters.

The premiere on Wednesday night also marked the return of several performers who have been absent from the flagship series for years. Lange last held a leading “AHS” role in 2014’s “Freak Show,” while Bassett, Bates and Peters are among the other longtime Murphy collaborators rejoining the ensemble. Grande, meanwhile, makes her “American Horror Story” debut following her recent film work in the “Wicked” franchise.

Season 13 consists of 13 half-hour episodes. Following the three-episode premiere, the season will continue with multiple episodes each week before wrapping Oct. 29.
