House of the Dragon is making an official surprise return ahead of its final season with a new release next week. Fans of the series are waiting on pins and needles after a divisive three seasons ended with some major on-screen deaths that Fire & Blood readers have been curious about for years. While Season 3 had its share of amazing moments, such as Sunfyre's emotional return and reunion with Aegon II, it also left longtime fans scratching their heads over decisions such as Ormund Hightower's brutal final scene.
While Season 4 is sure to be just as controversial for longtime A Song of Ice and Fire enthusiasts, and HBO's show-runners will surely put their signature spin on iconic moments from the books, there's no question that Game of Thrones fans across the board will be tuning in to see how everything wraps up on screen for Martin's famous Dance of the Dragons storyline.
Fortunately, fans won't have to wait that long, as House of the Dragon is back on October 7 with the release of Lord of the Hightower.

House of the Dragon is making a surprise return just months after its third season, with several of its most important characters reuniting for a new Game of Thrones: Legends Summon. The Lord of the Hightower Summon launches October 7 at 4 a.m. ET and remains available until November 4 at 2 a.m. ET, giving players nearly a full month to add some familiar figures from the Dance of the Dragons to their teams.
The headline addition is Ormund Hightower, who finally made his live-action debut in House of the Dragon Season 3, played by James Norton. He is joined by fellow Hightowers Ser Gwayne Hightower and Otto Hightower, alongside Rhaenyra Targaryen, Aegon II Targaryen, and Aegon's dragon Sunfyre. The entire six-Champion lineup draws directly from characters audiences have now seen in HBO's prequel series, making Lord of the Hightower feel almost like a playable House of the Dragon reunion.
For the uninitiated, Summons are one of Game of Thrones: Legends' primary methods for acquiring and strengthening Champions. Players make pulls from different banners to obtain Champion Shards, eventually unlocking characters or increasing the power of Champions they already own. Limited-time Summons are therefore especially useful for snagging certain characters from the game's enormous Game of Thrones roster.
Ormund is getting a major spotlight in the game in October. Beyond leading the Lord of the Hightower lineup, he will be the featured Champion in the Grand Melee running October 12 through October 17, further putting House Hightower at the center of the month's schedule.
Lord of the Hightower is only one part of a particularly busy month of Summons. October begins with Robb's War, featuring Robb Stark alongside Daemon Targaryen, Olenna Tyrell, and Daenerys Targaryen, before the Winterfell Summon arrives October 8 with Jon Snow's Battle of the Bastards version, Tywin Lannister, Oberyn Martell, and Meleys. Another dedicated House of the Dragon Summon follows October 15, bringing back Rhaenyra, Viserys I, Caraxes, and Olenna.
The second major new Summon, The Brightflame, begins October 21 and features Aerion Targaryen, Osha, Walder Frey, Rhaenyra, Alicent Hightower, and Egg. Blackwater and Assault on Rook's Rest Summons then round out the month's event rotation. Between those returning Champions and Lord of the Hightower's month-long run, October is shaping up to be substantial for players who want to build teams around the Targaryen civil war and its House of the Dragon characters.
