KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's Aarav Dinesh and Sashana Istritharan won the Under-13 boys' and girls' titles at the Colombo Open Squash Championships in Sri Lanka recently.

The tournament is part of the Asian Junior Super Series.

Aarav lived up to expectations with a dominant run, winning every match in straight games.

In the boys' final, the Negri Sembilan player beat Hong Kong's third seed Kwok Yau Yau 11-7, 12-10, 11-4.

In the girls' final, second seed Sashana defeated compatriot and third seed Janelle Ong 11-1, 11-5, 11-5.

Aarav said the victory serves as motivation to achieve greater milestones in squash.

"I will work harder and continue improving. The victory is a personal milestone, and I hope to achieve more in the sport," said Aarav.

Sashana said: "The victory is not just mine. It also belongs to my coaches, family and everyone who has pushed me to achieve success.

"We achieved this victory together," she said.

Malaysia also won both Under-11 titles.

Nivethan Ganesh Kumar overcame Singapore's Aprameya Ravi 14-12, 6-11, 10-12, 11-7, 11-7 in the boys' final, while Naira Fatinraeesya defeated Audrey Lam of Hong Kong 7-11, 11-7, 11-3, 11-6 for the girls' title.
