Police have dropped an investigation into an e-bike rider who crashed into the daughter of Nicky Campbell and fled the scene.

Detectives have shelved the probe into the hit-and-run rider who left Lilla, 26, badly injured during a night out with her sisters.

She was rushed to hospital after the smash in Peckham, south-east London, back in June.

Her television presenter father urged people to come forward with information and CCTV but four months on and The Met has shelved the probe, despite having footage.

A spokesperson for the force said: 'Following extensive enquiries led by officers, including CCTV being obtained and a witness board placed at the scene, no information was provided to locate the rider of the e-bike.

'The case has therefore now been closed pending further evidence becoming available within the statutory six-month time limit of the incident.

'Anyone with information or footage who has not already come forward is urged to call police on 101, quoting reference 9571/19JUN.'

Mr Campbell, 65, took to Instagram at the time to say that Lilla, and his family faced 'a long and emotional night' after the crash, which occurred while Lilla was out in Peckham with her three sisters.

According to Mr Campbell, the e-bike rider 'scarpered' but the evening's trauma continued as Lilla and her sisters waited in A&E at King's College Hospital only for a 'drunk' man to expose himself in front of them.

He wrote online: 'My daughter Lilla was hit by an e bike hit and run last night in Peckham - hopefully there is CCTV. Once he saw the ambulance arrive and the crowd gathering - he scarpered.

'Her sisters were with her. She is badly injured but now at home. It could have been so much worse. We are incredibly lucky.

'Then when she and her sisters and a friend arrived at A&E a drunk entered the trauma room where they were and exposed himself to them.

'The police were there and he has been arrested. The police were magnificent. I spoke to them when I arrived at 3.15 and he is now in custody.

'We all want to say a massive thank you to our amazing police, the wonderful staff at Kings College Hospital - nurses and doctors. Calum and the team. From the bottom of our hearts, we're all bloody superb.'

Lilla is the second of Mr Campbell's four daughters that he shares with his wife Tina Ritchie, a former Virgin Radio presenter. Lilla's sisters are Breagha, 28, Kirsty, 24, and Isla, 22.
