Juventus head coach Luciano Spalletti has had his say on Harry Kane’s triumph at the 2026 Ballon d’Or ceremony, labelling his numbers ‘frightening’ and claiming players who don’t like to make a big fuss of themselves should be the ones recognised: ‘That’s how it should be’.
What Spalletti said about Kane’s Ballon d’Or victory
England international Kane was crowned the winner of the Ballon d’Or award at the 2026 ceremony in London on Monday evening, fending off competition from the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Lamine Yamal, Rodri and Lionel Messi.
Reactions and messages of congratulations have been flooding in since the award was presented on Monday evening, and even Juventus head coach Spalletti was asked for his thoughts on Kane’s victory during his pre-match press conference on Tuesday.

Spalletti was asked what he made of Kane’s victory and whether he feels any of his current players could compete for the biggest individual prize in world football in future years.
He replied: “My players and I have other goals to talk about.”
He did have a few complimentary things to say about Kane, though: “I talked about it with my staff and we thought it was right that it was given to him. It was a logical choice given the quality of the player. He has frightening numbers, even if he’s not always highlighted like some other players. That’s how it should be.”
